The Byrd Visitor Center

Shenandoah National Park - Harry F. Byrd, Sr., Visitor Center
National Park Service
Luray, Virginia - August 2006

Shenandoah National Park located on Skyline Drive near the town of Luray, VA, lies astride a beautiful section of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. To the east is the rolling Piedmont country and to the west is the Shenandoah River from which the park gets its name. Skyline Drive, a long winding road, runs along the Blue Ridge through the length of the park.

The Harry F. Byrd, Sr., Visitor Center, located on Skyline Drive, is one of the park's three major visitor facilities. The Center features a theater for audiovisual presentations and exhibit areas. The park is renovating the building and new displays are to be installed in the entire exhibit area. Color-Ad has been awarded the contract to fabricate and install these new exhibits.

To facilitate the park's ultimate design intent, Color-Ad will utilize it's talented artisans and craftsmen to detail and fabricate custom artifact mounts, climate controlled casings & vitrines with velvet fabric covered case interiors. Throughout the exhibit space will boast high resolution digital graphic panels, murals & translucent images, an interactive fiber optic map, and even replicated architectural and natural structures.
